The event planning process can be both fun and overwhelming at times, and we are here to make it easy for you and answer any questions you may have. Throughout this basic guide you will be introduced to the options available to you and some things that you can expect throughout the planning process.  Don't be worried or overwhelmed, as we progress in our conversations leading up to your event, your personalized catering coordinator will be sure to leave no stone unturned to ensure your event expectations are met.

Getting Started Planning Your Event

  • What is the date, time, and location of your event?
  • How many guests are you expecting?

  • Do you prefer real or disposable china, flatware and glassware?
    • All of our food and beverage pricing includes the necessary disposable plates, napkins, silverware and cups required for your menu but our event planners can easily coordinate rentals for china, flatware and glassware with convenient delivery & pick up to your venue.
  • Does your venue have the tables, chairs and linens required for seating, mingling, and food & beverage setup?
    • Our event planners can order these necessities for you if you do not already have them onsite for your event!
  • Will you require staff at your event?
    • We offer drop off and delivery service, as well as fully staffed events
  • The Y.Lo Epicure staff can help you:
    • Set up tables, chairs, linens and table settings
    • Pass appetizers, serve from a buffet, or plate a meal for your guests
    • Bartend and serve drinks
    • Maintain buffets and make sure food is stocked
    • Cut cake and serve dessert
    • Maintain the cleanliness of the event space
    • Flip rooms intended for more than one purpose

What Method Of Service Fits Your Event Style

  • Delivery, Set up & Pick-Up
    • Individual meals (box lunches)

    • Setup time needed 30-60 minutes (or more)

    • Great for large scale events, creating flow and ease in food service while limiting lines
    • Great for more relaxed eat times without a set schedule
    • Can be less cost effective as more staff is required
  • Passed Hors D’oeuvres
    • An elegant option for your formal event, or a nice addition to your casual cocktail hour
    • Food cost decreases as guests tend to eat less off of a passed plate than from a buffet
    • Staff cost increases to ensure we have enough presence to serve all your guests in a timely manner
    • Our a la carte hors d’oeuvres menu offers a variety of bitesized menu items
  • Plated Meals
    • This service style is most appropriate for formal affairs
    • Staff cost increases in order to serve guests as fast and efficiently as possible
    • Plates are pre-portioned, limiting food waste
    • In addition to the increased cost of service staff, on site chefs will also be necessary-further increasing the cost
  • Family Style
    • Creates a chic yet casual and comfortable ambiance, allowing guests to interact with each other
    • Service staff will bring the food to each table in large serving dishes to be passed around for each person to serve their own plate
    • Eliminates buffet lines, creating additional ease for guests
    • Typically more expensive
    • Family style meal pricing is comparable to a plated meal
